Getting from Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport to Budapest

Budapest, Hungary

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is about 16 km southeast of the city centre. The direct 100E Airport Express bus is the fastest budget option; a taxi or the 200E bus + M3 metro combination are the main alternatives.

100E Airport Express Bus

A direct bus between the airport and Deák Ferenc tér in the heart of the city, with only a few stops. Runs roughly every 20 minutes from early morning to past midnight.

Journey time

35–45 min

Cost

HUF 2,200 (~€5.50)

Tip: The 100E needs its own Airport Shuttle ticket — a normal single ticket is not valid. Buy it from the machine before boarding.

Bus 200E + Metro M3

Take bus 200E to Kőbánya-Kispest, then the M3 metro into the centre. The cheapest route, using standard city tickets.

Journey time

50–70 min

Cost

HUF 450 per ticket (2 needed)

Tip: Buy a transfer ticket or a 24-hour travelcard if you plan several journeys.

Taxi (Főtaxi)

Főtaxi is the airport’s official taxi partner, with a marshalled rank outside the arrivals hall. Fares are metered at a fixed city rate.

Journey time

30–40 min

Cost

HUF 7,000–9,000 (~€18–23)

Tip: Use the official Főtaxi desk or app to avoid unlicensed drivers.
